For outdoor, heavy fabric and high-tension work

Safety pins for canvas, tents and heavy work — sizes 5, 6, 7

The three largest sizes: 65–85 mm long on 1.10–1.35 mm wire, stiff enough to pass through canvas, tent fabric, covers and layered material without bending. Wholesale boxes of 144–216, from the Sampheng counter.

Pick the size by how thick the job is

These three differ in length and wire gauge. Thicker wire holds more tension but leaves a bigger hole — so take the smallest size that still passes through comfortably.

Size 5 65 mm · 1.10 mm wire · 216 pins/box

Stage work, drapes, table covers, fabric pleating — medium-weight material where a tidy, small pin hole matters.

Size 6 75 mm · 1.25 mm wire · 144 pins/box

The default for tarps and netting — stiff enough not to bend through coated fabric, still easy to handle. The most-ordered size for canvas work.

Size 7 85 mm · 1.35 mm wire · 144 pins/box

The jumbo. For thick tent fabric, several layers at once, or high-tension points — also popular for keychains and display work where it needs to be seen.

What people use the big sizes for

Job Size Why this size
Truck tarps and covers6Coated tarp needs 1.25 mm wire or thicker to push through without bending
Tents and outdoor covers7Thick fabric plus wind load — size 7 on 1.35 mm wire holds best
Fabric banners and signs6 – 7Faster than tying, and easy to swap the sign out
Stage, drapes, pleating5Long enough for several folds, small enough not to mark the fabric
Bird and shade netting6Grips the mesh firmly and comes off without tearing it
Keychains, crafts, shop décor7At 85 mm it reads as part of the design, not just a fastener
Before you leave them outdoors — these are nickel-plated spring steel, not true stainless. Fine for events and temporary covers, but months of sun and rain will tell. For permanent outdoor fixing, grommets or rope will outlast them.

Why fabric shops order here

All the big sizes in one place

Sizes 5–7 move slowly, so most shops don't stock them. We keep them on hand for repeat orders.

144 to a box — exactly one gross

Sizes 6 and 7 come 144 to a box, so costing by the gross needs no conversion.

FAQ

Which size for tarps?
Size 6 (75 mm, 1.25 mm wire) for ordinary tarps; step up to 7 (85 mm, 1.35 mm) for thick tent fabric or high tension; size 5 (65 mm) is enough for drapes and stage work.
Size 6 vs size 7?
Two things: 75 vs 85 mm long, and 1.25 vs 1.35 mm wire. Size 7 holds more and passes through more layers, but leaves a bigger hole — so take the smallest that still works.
Will they rust outdoors?
Nickel-plated spring steel, not true stainless. Good for events and temporary covers; months of weather will start to show. For permanent fixing, use grommets or rope.
Per box? Minimum order?
Size 5 is 216 a box; 6 and 7 are 144 (one gross), packed as tagged bunches. No minimum — bunches are fine, wholesale starts at box quantity.
